The remarkable goalscoring feats of Liverpool ace Mo Salah against Southampton
Mo Salah will be hoping he can continue his impressive goalscoring record against Southampton as the Saints travel to Liverpool this weekend.
After last weekend's match-up against Man United was postponed due to fan protests, Liverpool now face a hectic end to the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.
Tip for the fixture
Salah has seven goals in seven appearances against Southampton, and looks a good bet to improve on that at the weekend. Sky Bet are offering odds of 11/10 for Salah to score and Liverpool to win.
Key stats
Before this season, Liverpool had won their last six fixtures against Southampton. However, at St Mary's earlier this season they were defeated 1-0 by the hosts.
Salah has faced the Saints seven times, and he has scored in five of those fixtures, including two braces.
Liverpool 3-0 Southampton (November 18, 2017)
The Egyptian opened the scoring after half an hour with a superb effort from just outside the box which curled into the top corner, leaving keeper Fraser Forster no chance.
Ten minutes later Salah had his second, racing onto a through ball from Philippe Coutinho, and first-time he poked the ball past Forster and into the back of the net.
Coutinho got Liverpool's third and final goal. And, in truth, Salah could easily have got himself a hat-trick with five shots throughout the game.
Salah terrorised the Saints defence and thoroughly deserved the Man-of-the-Match award.
Liverpool 3-0 Southampton (September 22, 2018)
Once again Liverpool dominated Southampton at Anfield, with all three goals coming inside the first half.
The Reds found themselves two up after just 20 minutes thanks to a Wesley Hoedt own goal and a Joel Matip header, and Salah sealed the deal just before the half-time whistle.
Liverpool 4-0 Southampton (February 1, 2020)
Jordan Henderson doubled the Reds' lead after an hour of play, and ten minutes later Salah finished an opportunity to make it three.
Salah beat Saints keeper Alex McCarthy to a through ball from Henderson and, from just outside the six-yard box, poked the ball in at the near post.
In added time he got his second after some lovely link-up play with Roberto Firmino.
Like every previous game at Anfield against this opposition, Salah was too much for the defence to handle, and as well as scoring two he was at the heat of several other chances.
