Saturday ITV Racing Tips: Best bets for Doncaster and Cheltenham

Doncaster racecourse

It's the last Group 1 of the Flat season at Doncaster as the baton is handed over to the National Hunt. Can the Planet Sport tipsters find you some winners from ITV's races on Saturday, October 28.

The Kameko Futurity Trophy (1410) is the highlight of Saturday's seven ITV races.

The Doncaster meeting will go ahead as planned, after passing a precautionary inspection on Saturday morning.

Let's have a quick run through our tips, with the reasons why we've picked them further down the page.

If you fancy a punt or two, check out the Planet Sport race centre which will show you all the live odds, racecards and results.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Saturday's selections:

13:15 (Cheltenham) Guy

13:50 (Cheltenham) Blueking D’Oroux

14:10 (Doncaster) Ancient Wisdom

14:25 (Cheltenham) Twig

14:45 (Doncaster) Ballymount Boy

15:00 (Cheltenham) Hyland

15:20 (Doncaster) Glorious Angel

13:15 (Cheltenham) Guy

Guy appears well-handicapped with the benefit of race fitness.

Returned after a five month absence securing an easy 11 length win at Fontwell Park. Holds some fair form in big handicaps and may go close.

Triple Trade completed a double at the end of last season and was a useful nine length Kempton winner when last seen, so a bold bid is anticipated.

Haddex Des Obeaux and Red Rookier could enter the equation.

13:50 (Cheltenham) Blueking D’Oroux

Blueking D’Oroux can keep up the good work in the Masterson Holdings Hurdle after ending last season on an upward curve.

Ended previous season with a good second in a twenty-runner Aintree hurdle against similar opposition.

14:10 (Doncaster) Ancient Wisdom

Charlie Appleby’s season can end on a high with Ancient Wisdom set to prevail in the Kameko Futurity Trophy.

The Moulton Paddocks team has not hit its usual regular heights this term, but their fortunes appeared to be turning around when Ancient Wisdom was one of three quality juvenile winners at Newmarket’s Future Champions Weekend earlier this month.

Ancient Wisdom really impressed with a near four-length verdict on soft ground in the Group Three Autumn Stakes on what was his first start since losing his unbeaten record at the end of July.

Appleby was doubtless somewhat disappointed to see his previous dual winner finish third in the Pat Eddery Stakes at Ascot, but the form has worked out exceptionally well with winner Rosallion and sixth-placed Sunway subsequent Group One scorers, while the second, fourth and fifth – who is the reopposing Dancing Gemini – have all triumphed at at least Listed level.

Heavy ground will obviously represent a new challenge for Ancient Wisdom, but he dealt with plenty of cut at Headquarters and is already a winner over the mile distance, with the son of Dubawi seemingly a middle-distance prospect for next year.

14:25 (Cheltenham) Twig

Twig went well over the summer including a 1L success at Uttoxeter in a similar handicap steeplechase.

Proven contender tackling the stamina test and could go close.

Quick Draw aims for back to back wins. Resumed after a six month spell with a wide margin success at Ludlow abd will be in the mix.

Undersupervision and Amirite shouldn't be discounted.

14:45 (Doncaster) Ballymount Boy

Ballymount Boy can make the most of a drop to Listed level in the William Hill Prospect Stakes.

Adrian Keatley’s charge defied his odds of 25/1 to run dual Group One winner Vandeek to a length at Goodwood back in August, with a subsequent trip to York resulting in a fair second in the Acomb on ground that was probably quicker than ideal.

He again had to deal with unfavourably fast conditions in the Lagardere at the Arc meeting, compounding his ground issues by taking a keen hold and running his race far too early.

Ballymount Boy should return to his best on Town Moor.

15:00 (Cheltenham) Hyland

Hyland already has a win under his belt this season and should be primed for action in the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle.

Bugs Morgan switches to easier competition following a good second in a Galway Listed handicap hurdle and will be the main danger.

Hugos New Horse remains well-handicapped on current mark. End last campaign with a success in a novice hurdle at Ayr and is of interest.

15:20 (Doncaster) Glorious Angel

A competitive handicap sprint where not many of the eleven can be ruled out.

Glorious Angel just failed to reel in Vintage Clarets going down by a nose on heavy ground at Catterick a week ago.

The former is now 1lbs better off at the weights and can reverse placings though the latter could go well bidding for a hat-trick.

Fourth home that day Manila Scouse drops 1lbs in the ratings and must enter calculations alongside Desperate Hero who won on testing ground at Nottingham last time.
