SHIKANIC (7) finds it hard to win with three victories from 34 starts. Again tasted defeat last start when seventh over 5f at Morphettville Parks, beaten 2.25 lengths. This is a nice drop in grade so he is one of the main contenders. IT'S MAUI'S GOLD (1) was in the firing line on the turn and progressed nicely last start to finish a close second over 4f190yards at Swan Hill after missing the placings at the previous appearance. Has his share of talent. Hard to beat in this suitable race. ALBANIAN BAY (3) has not appeared since he finished tenth over 7f58yards at Kyneton on May 9. Looks one of the genuine hopes in the race. FIRST DIVISION (11) missed the placings two runs back then did well last start but found a couple better over 5f at Jerilderie, beaten only 0.9 lengths. Likely improver with strong prospects.
