MERCIAN (5) was out of the money when resuming two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 6f at Doomben, beaten one length into fourth after being in the firing line on the turn. Finds a nice race and can feature in the finish. ZARIPPA (7) was out of the money when resuming from a lay-off last start over 5½f at Gold Coast, beaten 4.5 lengths after being prominent at the bend. Taking on a better field but he is fitter and worth serious consideration. LARADO (4) wasted no time getting off the mark as favourite on debut over 5f at Gold Coast three weeks ago. Has upside and looks a key runner. DAZZLING DIAMOND (9) last appeared when fourth over 6f at Doomben five months ago. Has to be respected.
