ALPINE BLAST (8) improved sharply on his seventh two starts back at this track with a win over 6¾f at this track two weeks ago, getting home by one length after being in contention on the turn. Looks well placed so expect another big run. CARNEROS (5) improved sharply on his fourth two starts back at Launceston with a win over 6¾f at this track three-and-a-half weeks ago, getting home by a long neck after being in contention on the corner. The engagement of Anthony Darmanin is noteworthy. Well placed and there is no reason he cannot repeat the dose. AND BEYOND (2) looks close to a win, finishing in the placings at his last couple of runs including a third most recently over 1m at Hobart when beaten 0.6 lengths. Won't find this assignment as tough. Solid claims on best form.
