IMPENDING SHADOW (9) finished 2.75 lengths away in eighth last time out over 5½f at Bendigo when fresh from a lay-off. Tackles a longer journey this time. The one to beat in this line up. NORDIC (6) finished tenth when resuming two runs back then improved last start but found a couple better over 6½f at Bendigo, beaten only a neck after being prominent at the bend. Nicely placed to feature in the finish. METRICAL (8) drifted well back last start then wound up strongly to finish fourth, beaten 4 lengths, over 6f at Sandown-Lakeside. Was outdashed but got going late and the longer journey looks ideal. Must be included. Lay-off. Finds a nice race and can bounce back.
