THE GENIUS (12) was in the firing line on the bend but turned in a sub-par run last time out over 1m2 1/4f at Moe after a nice win the start prior. This looks a sterner test than last time but on his best form he is one of the key runners. STAUNCH (10) comes here off a last-start 12th, beaten 9 lengths, over 1m4f at Bendigo. Looms large. SKY OUT (9) has not won for a long while. Last raced on November 2 when beaten 12 lengths into eighth at Mortlake over 1m2f. Going up a level this time but he has the ability to mix it with them. PESTO (13) was below his best last time when eighth over 1m4f at Caulfield, beaten 5.5 lengths. Finds a nice race and can bounce back.
