Wimbledon men's singles: Vit Kopriva vs Novak Djokovic

Djokovic and Vit Kopriva will square off in the first round of Wimbledon for the maiden meeting in their careers.

The moment may well overcome Kopriva, who isn't playing an icon past his prime but a real title contender.

Djokovic is in action for the first time since he forfeited his French Open quarter-final against Casper Ruud.

Kopriva has come through a tough qualifying programme to reach the main draw but likely doesn't have enough in the locker to secure a shock win.

Wimbledon men's singles: Andy Murray vs Tomas Machac

Andy Murray's participation at Wimbledon remained uncertain heading into this first-round match against Tomas Machac.

The belief is that Murray will push through the match but that he isn't close to being fit for the event.

If Murray pulls out early enough Machac will get another opponent from the pool of Lucky Losers.

If he gets to the line in time, It is hard to imagine that Murray will be in any condition to really push Machac

Wimbledon men's singles: Roberto Carballes Baena vs Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev arrives at Wimbledon as fit as ever by contrast and ready to blow through Roberto Carballes Baena and into the second round.

This will be the second time that Zverev and Baena battle it out on court against each other.

The head-to-head is 1-0 for Zverev, but they have never competed against each other on grass.

In their only previous meeting, Zverev fought back from a set down to win in the second round in Madrid back in 2023.

Wimbledon men's singles: Jack Draper vs Elias Ymer

Jack Draper will be out to avenge a previous loss to Elias Ymer having progressed so much since that defeat.

That previous meeting came at the Challenger level in Helsinki back in 2019 and should have little bearing on this match.

Draper won a maiden ATP Tour title in the build-up to Wimbledon and will be among the players to watch as the new British No 1.

Draper is ranked well above his opponent and carries the No 28 seeding in the men's draw.

Wimbledon women's singles: Jessica Bouzas Maneiro vs Marketa Vondrousova

Marketa Vondrousova is out to capture the Wimbledon magic again as she starts her defence against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro for the first time.

Vondrousova had a disappointing lead-in to the Championships playing just two matches on grass and retiring in one of those.

Maneiro is far from a grass courter and opted to play a clay event in the lead-in to Wimbledon following the French Open.

She shouldn't challenge the defending champion but Vondrousova will need to guard against self-destructing.

Wimbledon women's singles: Elena Rybakina vs Elena-Gabriela Ruse

Elena Rybakina starts Wimbledon among the top favourites to take the crown home this year.

She leads Ruse in their head-to-head by 1-0 having defeated her at the 2022 Miami Open.

Rybakina needs to find some rhythm after she also had a disrupted build-up to the Grand Slam.

Ruse didn't drop a set coming through qualifying but will need to step up her game to challenge Rybakina.

Wimbledon women's singles: Iga Swiatek vs Sofia Kenin

Sofia Kenin caused an upset early on at Wimbledon last season and has another chance when she faces Iga Swiatek.

The world No 1 is in action for the first time since winning her third French Open title at the beginning of last month.

Swiatek leads her head-to-head over Kenin 2-0 at the moment with both triumphs coming at Grand Slams.

The Pole is on a 19-match winning streak which she will look to extend when she headlines day two on Centre Court.

Wimbledon women's singles: Ons Jabeur vs Moyuka Uchijima

Last season's finalist Ons Jabeur is slated to play the day's final match on Court 2 when she takes on Moyuka Uchijima for the first time.

Jabeur is 4-2 across the grass court season but that record is still better than her opponent can boast.

Uchijima has won just twice in four matches on grass this term and hasn't won a main draw match at all.

The Japanese player came through qualifying before losing in the opening round in Birmingham and then lost in Eastbourne qualifying the next week.
