Despite only having come into existence in 2014, Atlanta United have already made their mark on the MLS.

Atlanta United played their first MLS game in 2017 as an expansion side after being founded three years earlier.

They rocketed to the top of the league under manager Gerardo 'Tata' Martino, making the play-offs in their first season and winning the league title a year later.

Atlanta United's nickname is The Five Stripes, and they are also known as ATL UTD. Playing at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta, they share a ground with the NFL's Atlanta Falcons.
The arena lists a soccer capacity of 42,500, but this can be expanded to over 70,000. United set several MLS records for single-game attendance in 2018.
The Five Stripes are owned by Arthur Blank, the co-founder of The Home Depot. Blank also owns the Falcons, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Atlanta United 2, a reserve team in the USL Championship.
