Who will win the Premier League?

Manchester City win the 2023/24 Premier League title

The new Premier League season has finally begun, which means it's time to run through the favourites to win the 2024/25 crown.

Manchester City made history last season as they became the first ever club in English football to win four straight league titles.

The Citizens have won six of the last seven Premier League campaigns as the competition risks turning into a rich man’s Bundesliga.

Question is, can anyone stop Pep Guardiola and his men from bagging a fifth straight title?

Manchester City to win the Premier League (11/10)

Surprise, surprise, Manchester City are once again bookies favourites to win the Premier League. Yes, the English top tier is really that boring.

Last season Guardiola’s men were pushed to the limit by Arsenal, but still came out on top, finishing two points above the Gunners.

The Citizens are unlikely to make major changes to the squad, and so far only versatile forward Julian Alvarez has left for Atletico Madrid. Guardiola is undecided on whether the club will dip into the transfer market to find a replacement.

Kevin De Bruyne has also been linked with a move, though those rumours have gone cold recently and his exit seems some distance away.

With pretty much the same squad at his disposal, we expect Guardiola’s men to be right in the thick of yet another title challenge.

Arsenal to win the Premier League (7/4)

Arsenal, who came close to dethroning Man City over the last two seasons, have only really splashed the cash on Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori, who joined the club for £42million

You get the feeling that if Arsenal are to finally make a breakthrough, they will probably need to dig around their wallet a bit more.

Getting a proven centre forward with 25 to 30 goals per season in his locker is the challenge for Mikel Arteta.

Should that happen, expect to see Arsenal’s odds shorten in the Premier League title outrights. Until then, the current price of 7/4 sounds about right.

Liverpool to win the Premier League (13/2)

Liverpool are the third horse in the Premier League race. However, following Jurgen Klopp’s departure, the Reds are somewhat of an unknown entity.

While the squad remains largely the same, it may take some time before we know what new head coach Arne Slot is all about. With that in mind, the current odds of 13/2 are about right.

Tottenham to win the Premier League (25/1)

There is a big gap separating the top three title contenders and the dark horses begin with Tottenham at 25/1.

Tottenham usually start well before doing something 'Spursy' and tailing off to finish outside the Champions League.

Can Ange Postecoglou shed that unwanted tag this season? The jury is well and truly out.

Manchester United to win the Premier League (25/1)

Manchester United are priced at around the same mark as Tottenham, though they might be a far better option if you’re looking for a dark horse.

Yes, the Red Devils endured their worst ever Premier League campaign last season, but with Jim Ratcliffe making big changes at the top and some with some encouraging new signings, perhaps the tide is beginning to change.

An opening day victory over Fulham will have settled some early season nerves, but the very demanding fan base and new board are expecting a sharp turnaround in fortunes.

Chelsea to win the Premier League (40/1)

Chelsea are now sixth in the betting at around the 40/1 mark after being brushed aside by Manchester City in their opening game of the season.

Enzo Maresca's side started the campaign at 20/1, but that early-season optimism has already drifted away with their price doubling over the first weekend.

While Maresca did a great job with Leicester City, winning promotion to the Premier League with the Foxes, managing a side with humongous expectations like Chelsea is a whole different ball game.
