Tottenham vs Luton tips and predictions: Injury-hit Town to be torn apart by hungry Spurs

Son Heung Min and Richarlison celebration

Tottenham will hope to make light work of strugglers Luton Town in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon (1500 GMT).

The international break came at a good time for Luton Town as the injury-ravaged Hatters were beginning to struggle at Premier League level.

Rob Edwards’ side are winless in nine matches across all competitions and have allowed an average of 3.11 goals per game.

Tottenham also finished on a sour note with a 3-0 spanking at the hands of Fulham, a stark contrast to the previous week’s 4-0 win at Villa Park.

Despite the Jekyll and Hyde nature of Spurs’ performances this season, they hold a comfortable six-point lead over sixth-placed Manchester United.

That’s not to say Big Ange will be settling for that. The top three are in a league of their own but Aston Villa are catchable so this is an unmissable opportunity.

On a weekend where Unai Emery’s side face a tricky test against Wolves, Spurs must make the most of hosting a Luton side who have won two of 14 on their travels.

They have a 100% home record against sides in the bottom half except for that bizarre evening where they were reduced to nine and lost 4-1 to Chelsea.

Luton have shown some resilience on their travels and the ability to score, but it seems a given that the hosts will find the back of the net at least twice.

They’ve had a few weeks to stew on events at Craven Cottage and notably, they tend to score three on the back of a loss.

If Spurs can find their attacking rhythm then the injury-hit visitors will be sitting ducks.

Team news

Micky van de Ven, Manor Solomon, Ryan Sessegnon and Fraser Forster are ruled out for the hosts.

Tom Lockyer, Amari’i Bell, Marvelous Nakamba, Dan Potts, Joseph Johnson, Sambi Lokonga, Gabriel Osho, Mads Andersen, Jacob Brown and Elijah Adebayo are out.

Town could also be without Alfie Doughty, Pelly Mpanzu and Chiedozie Ogbene.
