With rumours always swirling around the future of Man City boss Pep Guardiola, we've taken a look at who's most likely to replace the Spaniard in the Etihad Stadium hotseat.

Pep Guardiola signed a new contract in November 2024, but after one of the most turbulent periods of his Man City career nobody is totally bulletproof.

His odds to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked dropped dramatically during the one win in the last 13 games spell. Plunging from 80/1 down to 6/1 with some bookies.

With a few more wins under his belt, Guardiola has clawed himself back into double figures in the market, but even having odds for him to leave next feels unusual.

Even though the club have locked him down for a couple more years with a new two-year contract, there's every chance he could walk of his own accord if things get too hot.

Thereford, we've rounded up a list of the most likely candidates to succeed Guardiola.

    Michel (3/1)

    Girona head coach Michel

Let's be honest the name Michel will probably prompt shrugs of shoulder from Man City fans as he's not the most stellar of names.

However, the Girona manager has proved himself against the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, running them close in the race for the La Liga title in 2023/24 and is now leading them in the Champions League.

With Girona being owned by City Football Group, this isn't out of the realms of possibility and bookies have him as the joint-favourite at around 3/1.

    Xabi Alonso (3/1)

It seemed like the stars were aligning for Xabi Alonso earlier this year when the Liverpool job came available, but he decided to stay at Bayer Leverkusen after an unbeaten season saw them break Bayern Munich's dominance in the Bundesliga.

Man City could be a different proposition for Alonso, following in the huges footsteps of Guardiola, but there's no doubting that he deserves a chance at one of European football's top jobs and the bookies have him as joint favourite at 3/1.

    Vincent Kompany (8/1)

    Vincent Kompany

A Manchester City icon, Vincent Kompany is a much loved character in East Manchester.

The current Bayern Munich boss surprised the world in the summer after landing a move to Bavaria from relegated Burnley.

He has started well for Bayern, getting them to the top of the Bundesliga, which to be brutally honest shouldn't be that hard.

Would a move to City would be tempting for their ex-captain?

    Ruben Amorim (12/1)

    Ruben Amorim

Something will have to be seriously wrong at Old Trafford for their new coach Ruben Amorim to want to cross the City.

Some bookies even have him as low as 12/1, while even 25/1 appears way too short..

However, United's sporting director Dan Ashworth only lasted five months, so Amorim leaving is not beyond the realms of possibility.

It would certainly be a very strange move. J. Ernest Mangnall, is the only person to manage both Manchester United and Manchester City, so far.

Obviously you'll all remember his spells at Man Utd between 1903 and 1912, where he won the First Division twice, before crossing the City to takeover the Citizens between 1912 and 1924...you don't? What's wrong with you?

    Andoni Iraola (14/1)

    Andoni Iraola

Another name who is also high on Tottenham's hit list for next manager, Iraola has does wonders to Bournemouth's fortunes this season.

He was one of the favourites to be the first Premier League manager to be sacked this campaign, now he's as high as 66/1 to leave the south coast.

Considering not many people outside of Spain had heard of him until two seasons ago, this is a fantastic rise to the top.

    Roberto De Zerbi (16/1)

    Roberto De Zerbi

Roberto De Zerbi's name was the toast of English football not so long ago when he led Brighton to a first ever top six finish in the Premier League, but things soured in a difficult second season on the south coast.

After being linked with a string of major jobs over the summer, he ended up at Marseille, and the Italian now has them battling for the Ligue 1 title with PSG.

He's made a positive impact in the south of France and bookies have given him a chance of landing the City job at odds of around 18/1.

    Zinedine Zidane (18/1)

    Zinedine Zidane

Given Zinedine Zidane's excellent trophy winning record at Real Madrid, it's a surprise that the Frenchman hasn't been in management since 2021.

He has won three Champions League and two La Ligas, which would give City an option if they want a proven trophy winner to replace Guardiola.

Zizou has a variety of odds in the market, with some bookies handing him odds of 15/2, while others have him at around 18/1.

    Marco Rose (18/1)

The world needs another bearded German manager, so step forward current RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose.

He won the Austrian Bundesliga twice and the Austrian Cup, and lifted the DFB Pokal at RB Leipzig.

However, he's struggled at the German outfit, especially in the Champions League where they didn't reach the play-offs.

Head of global soccer at RB, Jurgen Klopp...remember him?, might be tempted to pull the trigger if Rose can't turn Leipzig's season around.

Why a manager struggling to keep his job is fairly high in this market is anyone's guess.

    The outsiders

Former City assistant and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is seen as an outside chance at around 20/1, while Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is at around 25/1.

Other names being mooted by the bookies include Julian Nagelsmann, Ange Postecoglou and Guardiola's former player Xavi all at 25/1.
