Man City vs Brighton tips and predictions: Champions backed to produce magisterial display

City celebrate

Planet Sport Bet ambassador Robbie Savage is expecting Manchester City to mark their return from the international break with a vengeance as they prepare to host Brighton.

I don’t think on this occasion against City, Brighton will get anything at the Etihad.

I think there’ll be goals. That is a huge one considering in Brighton’s eight Premier League games this season there’s been 37 goals.

I think City will get three or four in this one. Brighton might get one. I’m gonna go City four, Brighton one.

Robbie’s Tip: Man City 4-1 Brighton

Team news

With the exception of the injured Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City have a fully fit squad at their disposal.

Brighton, meanwhile, will have to navigate around a handful of absentees. Julio Enciso and Jakub Moder are both out with knee injuries while Pervis Estupinan also misses out.

James Milner has picked up a muscle problem and remains a doubt for the match.

Key stats

- Manchester City have won 10 of their 12 Premier League meetings against Brighton

- Brighton have never won an away league game against Manchester City

- Brighton’s eight league games this season have produced 37 goals – the most in the Premier League

Let’s be honest, normally the international break is a bit of a ball-ache, but this time it came as a blessing in disguise for both Manchester City and Brighton.

The Citizens spectacularly lost three of their last four matches. Brighton, on the other hand, won just one of their last six across all competitions.

Both needed a break, and it will be fascinating to see whether the last two weeks will make any difference to how these two sides approach Saturday’s encounter.

Pep Guardiola’s men have never lost a home league game with Brighton and they are heavy favourites to continue that run considering they’ve won 20 consecutive competitive matches at the Etihad.

City boast the joint-strongest defence with Arsenal in the Premier League and they’re not exactly strugging when it comes to scoring either.

The Seagulls, on the other hand, have conceded 10 goals across their last three outings. If they don’t find a way of shutting up shop against the Cityzens, they risk enduring another heavy defeat.

From a betting perspective, we’re backing City in the handicap market. The over 3.5 goals market also looks an enticing proposition.

Man City -1 handicap

Over 3.5 goals
