Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest tips and predictions: Reds backed to put on Anfield demolition

Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool 20 May 2023

Planet Sport Bet ambassador Robbie Savage expects Liverpool to continue their epic home record against Nottingham Forest in a goal-mad encounter.

I’ll tell you what, I think there’ll be goals. In the last four meetings at Anfield between these two sides, there’s been 23 goals.

I think there’ll be goals in this one, I’m going for a Liverpool 4-0 win.

Team news

Liverpool enter the weekend’s clash without the injured trio of Stefan Bajcetic, Andrew Robertson and Thiago.

Curtis Jones is also out of action with a suspension.

Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, will be missing Danilo, Felipe, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Gonzalo Montiel and Divock Origi.

Taiwo Awoniyi and Nuno Tavares are also doubts for the weekend.

Key stats

- Liverpool are unbeaten in 24 home league games against Nottingham Forest

- Forest’s last league win at Anfield came in February 1969

- Last four meetings at Anfield have produced 23 goals - 17 for Liverpool and seven for Forest

- Liverpool have lost one of their last 46 Premier League home games

Planet Sport’s other bets to consider

They say Anfield is a fortress, but in the eyes of Nottingham Forest, it’s far more menacing than that. More like a Death Star made from granite or Mordor from Lord of the Rings.

Think we’re being dramatic? Think again.

Forest haven’t won a league fixture at Anfield since 1969. In other words, that’s the same year as Super Bowl III, the Beatles’ infamous roof top concert and Richard Nixon’s election victory – what a year.

Are Nottingham in any shape to change that? Unlikely. Steve Cooper’s men are winless in five games, with four of those ending in draws.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have won 10 of their last 12 games across all competitions. What’s more, they’ve only lost one of their last 46 Premier League games at home.

We simply can’t go against a record like that. With that in mind, Liverpool to win to nil is our recommendation in the betting. Jurgen Klopp’s men to score two or more goals is also a tasty option, considering it has landed in the last four games.
