Iceland vs Portugal tips: Bruno Fernandes to score in comfortable away win

Bruno Fernandes for Portugal, June 2023

Portugal could extend their lead at the top of Group J when they face Iceland in a Euro 2024 qualifier on Tuesday.

This will be the fourth head-to-head game between Iceland and Portugal. In the previous three games, both teams found the net with Portugal winning twice.
The last game between the sides took place in the group stages of the Euro 2016, a tournament won by Portugal, and back then the game ended in a draw 1-1.
Portugal top the group after three games, scoring 13 goals and conceding none. Iceland sit 4th, with two defeats and one win, but they are the second-highest scorers in the group.
The Portuguese have scored at least three goals in all of their Euro 2024 qualifiers. In their most recent outing, Portugal beat Bosnia 3-0 at home.
Portugal have responded well to their World Cup elimination against Morocco. This qualifying campaign is the first time we've seen them since, as they take out their frustrations on weaker opponents.

Suggested bet: Portugal -1.5 Asian handicap

Iceland were expected to do well in this group, but defeat against Slovakia considerably dented their chances of a top-two finish. Despite beating Liechtenstein 7-0, they're four points off second.
Slovakia are expected to win well on Tuesday so unless Age Hareide's men can pull off a shock here, they could be seven points adrift.
Portugal have featured away from home just once in this campaign, a 6-0 win over Luxembourg. It was a game they could have scored more goals in.
Iceland face back-to-back games in front of their fans but morale isn't at the highest level.
Iceland are on a run of six games without a win at home, last winning at home when they beat Liechtenstein in 2021. They should remain winless against Portugal.
Bruno Fernandes was the hero for Portugal at the weekend. He's been involved in 11 goals in his last nine Portugal appearances and has scored five in four for club and country.
Portugal should create lots of chances and there's always the possibility of a penalty, so his odds on Fernandes to score seem too big.

Suggested bet: Bruno Fernandes to score anytime
