The new football season in Germany will start on Saturday evening with the German DFL-Supercup final between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig at Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich had a thrilling season last year, winning the title on the final day of the season only because Borussia Dortmund failed to beat Mainz at home.

To avoid this kind of scenario in the future, Bayern's management decided the club needs a few top players this summer.

Bayern Munich made quick moves in the transfer market, and look like signing Harry Kane, which is what they need most right now to complete their squad.

Leipzig, on the other hand, sold a few of their star players and replaced them with promising youngsters, as is their custom.

The Bulls strengthened their squad with the clear objective of challenging for the title alongside Bayern and Dortmund.

Marco Rose, who managed to win the cup last season with Leipzig, remains in charge as manager.

Bayern won their 11th straight Bundesliga title in May, but it was tougher than usual. They've made some transfers and are eyeing the DFL Supercup.

Bayern Munich have signed Konrad Laimer (free transfer, Leipzig), Raphael Guerreiro (free transfer, Dortmund), and Kim Min-jae (€50m, Napoli).

Bayern saw two of their players leave for rivals: Lucas Hernandez to PSG and Marcel Sabitzer to Dortmund.

Thomas Tuchel's men played a few friendlies in Japan and Singapore, losing 2-1 to Manchester City, winning 1-0 against Kawasaki, and then beating Liverpool 4-3 in a thrilling match.

Leipzig won the German Cup twice in a row. Rose did well last season, now they want the league title. They're underdogs in the Supercup final, even though Bayern struggled last season.

Leipzig made a number of astute signings in the transfer window, with Lois Openda their most expensive acquisition at €43 million from Lens.

Other significant signings include Christoph Baumgartner (€24 million), Benjamin Sesko (€24 million), Nicolas Seiwald (€20 million) and El Chadaille Bitshiabu (€15 million).

Fabio Carvalho joined on loan from Liverpool, while Xavi Simmons joined on loan from PSG.

The Bulls made a killing on their star players, selling Josko Gvardiol to Manchester City (€90 million), Dominic Szoboszlai (€70 million) to Liverpool and Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea (€60 million).

Leipzig played six pre-season friendlies against weaker teams, winning four, drawing one, and losing two. The losses were to Udinese and Ipswich.

The last time the two teams met was in May, when RB Leipzig won 3-1 at the Allianz Arena. Laimer, Nkunku, and Szoboszlai, who are no longer with the club, scored for Leipzig, while Gnabry scored for Bayern.

The previous match between the two teams ended in a 1-1 draw. Additionally, they met in the Supercup final last year, which Bayern won 5-3 in a thrilling match.
