Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid tips and predictions: Another tight, cagey affair on cards

The fight for the title in La Liga is another heated affair with four teams, including the ones led by Xavi and Diego Simeone, leading the charge.

Both Atletico and Barcelona are four points behind Real Madrid and surprise package Girona, with Simeone side's having a game in hand.

Both teams arrive with morale boosting Champions League midweek wins under the belts. Barcelona claimed top spot in Group H after beating Porto 2-1, while Atletico landed an important 3-1 away win against Feyenoord.
 
The Catalans have won the last three games against Atletico Madrid. But before this winning streak, Simeone’s team managed there wins and two draws in five games against the Blaugrana.

The last time these sides met, back in April, Xavi’s troops managed a 1-0 win at home, thanks to Ferran Torres. Barca also claimed a 1-0 away win back in January with the now depart Ousmane Dembele on target.

With five of the last six games between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid having under 2.5 goals scored, that looks like a safe bet.

Although Barca do conceded goals, and haven't kept a clean sheet in four across all competitions, so both teams to score is appealing.

Atletico are staying in the title fight mostly because of their home results, where they claimed seven wins in seven games played at Metropolitano.

Away from home, Los Colchoneros have lost two of the last four games played to Valencia and Las Palmas.

Barcelona only managed a draw in their last La Liga game away against Rayo Vallecano, with Unai Lopez opening the score for the hosts in the first half, and the equaliser came late in the game after an own goal from Lejeune.

A tight match to call, and leaning towards a draw is certainly an option.
