Aston Villa vs Luton Town tips and predictions: Hatters to feel full force of Villans goal-machine

Ollie Watkins Aston Villa

Planet Sport Bet ambassador Robbie Savage is a former Birmingham City player, yet even he backs Aston Villa to put on another goal-mad show against Luton Town this weekend.

The two big questions for these teams - can Aston Villa finish in the Champions League places with the way they started and can Luton Town stay up, currently outside of the relegation zone.

It’s a good game, it’s a big game for both sides. Can Aston Villa continue their momentum? I think they will.

Luton in the Premier League went to Everton and won 2-1, can they go to Villa Park and win? I’m not so sure they can.

I think it will be a decent encounter, but with home advantage, Villa flying, I’m going with a 3-1 win for Villa.

Robbie’s Tip: Aston Villa 3-1 Luton Town

Team news

Aston Villa will have to contend with a few injury problems ahead of the weekend. Emiliano Buendia, Kortney Hause, Tyrone Mings, Alex Moreno and Jacob Ramsey are all unavailable.

Luton also have a long list of absentees. Mads Andersen, Amari Bell, Reece Burke, Jordan Clark, Sambi Lokonga and Dan Potts are all injured.

Key stats

- Aston Villa boast the best home record in the Premier League with four wins from four, 17 goals scored and three conceded

- Aston Villa have won six of their seven games at Villa Park across all competitions

- Luton’s only Premier League win came away from home when they beat Everton 2-1 at Goodison Park

- This is the first league meeting between the two clubs since 1992

Planet Sport’s other bets to consider

We don’t know what Unai Emery puts inside the coffee machine at Villa Park but whatever it is, it has certainly turned the Villans into a fierce goal scoring monster.

Take the last month for example. Over the last five games, Villa have won four, scoring 16 goals in the process.

Six of those came against Brighton, while eight came against West Ham and AZ Alkmaar in their last two outings.

This is all terrible news for a Luton Town side which is yet to keep a clean sheet this season.

The Hatters could put on their finest defensive display of the season, and I’m afraid they would still fall well short against this rampant Villa outfit.

To make matters worse for Luton, Emery’s men are particularly deadly at Villa Park where they’ve won six of seven games this season.

With that in mind, we’re backing the hosts to bag over 2.5 goals for the third match in a row. Villa to score first and last also represents good value in the market.
