What are the easiest bets in football to win?

The easiest football bets to win

If you are reading this thinking you’ve stumbled across the winning formula for never losing a football bet again, then unfortunately there’s no such thing.

If punters won every time, the bookmaking industry wouldn’t have lasted as long as it has - officially hundreds of years, thousands if you count people taking bets on gladiators at the colosseum in Rome.

What we can offer are strategies to turn your losing football bets into winning ones. You don’t have to be an expert punter, just one that carefully considers their wagers rather than leaning towards ones that will always trip you up.

What is an easy bet?

All bets carry a risk, but some have higher chances of winning. But these bets usually have lower odds, so don’t expect to be walking off with wads of cash.

Simply put, easy bets are low risk with low rewards. However, stacking these into something like a bet builder will enhance the odds but increase the risk.

What are the easiest bets to win?

All bettors have a favourite type of bet and will be drawn to a market they consider a ‘guarantee’ win.

Feel free to listen to them - or, instead, have a look at this little fistful of diamonds that will offer you a higher chance of success

BTTS - both teams to score

Over/Under

Draw no bet

Double chance

Both Teams to Score (BTTS)

You’ll see the abbreviation BTTS scattered around online bookies markets, as Both Teams to Score is a bit of a mouthful.

It does what it says on the tin - the bettor is predicting whether both teams during the match will score or not.

There’s two simple options BTTS - Yes or BTTS - No.

You don’t have to worry about when the goals are scored, which team scores first or the final result, it’s very simple and an easy bet to win.

BTTS is also a good option if two sides are eventually matched and predicting a winner may appear a little tricky.

The great thing about BTTS is it can remain active until the final whistle, even if one team are four goals up and cruising. It could also be settled in the early stages of a game if both teams have both come flying out of the traps.

BTTS bets usually only apply to normal time (90 minutes plus any added time beyond that), although some bookmakers will offer BTTS into extra-time.

Over/Under

There’s a lot of over/under markets to consider when looking for an easy football bet, for example, goals, corners, cards and shots.

What is important is to select ‘over’ a low number that should be easy to achieve or ‘under’ a high number where the chances of the scenario happening appear slender.

If over 0.5 goals were selected, then only one goal would need to be scored for the bet to win. In the last decade, only around 8% of games have ended 0-0.

Whereas under 5.5 goals would need fewer than six goals to be scored. You don’t need to be much of a football expert to say that six-goal thrillers are fairly rare, but at around 9-10% they are actually slightly more likely to happen than a 0-0.

Draw No Bet

Draw No Bet (DNB) takes the option of a draw out of the match and allows bets on home or an away win.

If the match ends in a draw then the bettor has their stake returned, so this is a lot less risky than win-lose bets but generally with lower odds.

DNB can make betting on underdogs more appealing; it removes the risks of drawn matches and is a good option if teams are closely matched.

Draw No Bet is not only used in football and is available in such sports as cricket, boxing and ice hockey.

Double Chance

Gives the bettor the option of selecting two or three outcomes in a match, making it a safer option with a better chance of winning.

For example, a bettor can select a win or draw for their chosen team, and they will win as long as their selection doesn’t lose.

Positives of double chance include higher win probability, reduced risk and more flexibility, while the negatives are smaller odds, and the fact that they not always available with certain bookies/markets.

How to spot an easy bet?

Other elements to factor into your bet will rely on a bit more on your own knowledge or gut instinct.

Mix these with the ‘easiest bets to win’ market above and your luck could change for the better.

- Strong team playing at home meets considerably weaker opposition

- Key injuries to players. For example teams missing their 20-goals a season striker or midfield magician will have their attacking threat curbed

- Player knowledge - Will the goalkeeper be busy, is a midfielder prone to reckless tackles, is the winger always likely to shoot whatever the situation

- Several tipsters backing the same outcome
