RB Leipzig cash in on Mohamed Simakan's Saudi move
Mohamed Simakan's exit from RB Leipzig was officially confirmed last Friday, marking the end of the versatile defender's stint in Germany.
The 24-year-old's move to Saudi Arabia had been widely anticipated, with his new club, Al-Nassr FC, already an open secret.
Despite varying reports on the exact transfer fee, German outlet Kicker revealed that Leipzig secured a hefty €45 million deal for the Frenchman.
Al-Nassr, known for their high-profile signings like Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane, were willing to pay significantly above Simakan's market value to bring him to the Arabian Peninsula.
Unlike some of Al-Nassr's recent acquisitions, Simakan is still in the early stages of his career, making the transfer all the more remarkable.
With no release clause in his contract, Leipzig were initially reluctant to part ways with one of their top defenders.
However, the lucrative offer—three times what they originally paid for him, proved too tempting to refuse.
The deal also allowed Leipzig to quickly reinvest in Lutsharel Geertruida, who was acquired for a fraction of Simakan's sale price.
