Miguel Baeza bids farewell to Celta Vigo

Miguel Baeza of Celta Vigo

Miguel Baeza and Celta Vigo have mutually agreed to part ways, marking the end of the midfielder's four-year stint at the club.

Baeza, 24, who joined Celta from Real Madrid Castilla, has departed after an eventful period marked by both promise and challenges.

During his time with Celta, Baeza's contributions were limited. In his debut season, he made 22 La Liga appearances and scored one goal, alongside two Copa del Rey matches.

However, his subsequent seasons saw diminishing game time. He played just one league match and two cup games in his second season before being loaned to Ponferradina in January.

The following year, Baeza spent a season on loan at Rio Ave in Portugal.

Last season, he was loaned to Mirandes, where he suffered a significant setback. Two months into the campaign, he endured a severe injury, tearing his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his right knee.

Despite his injury woes, Baeza managed to recover and returned to fitness. However, with 27 official appearances for Celta, it was clear that he was not in the club's future plans under manager Claudio Giraldez.

Consequently, both parties agreed to terminate his contract, which had one year remaining. The club expressed gratitude for Baeza's professionalism and commitment, even though he struggled to secure a regular spot in the team.

Baeza's departure marks the sixth exit from Celta Vigo this summer, following the transfers of Jorgen Strand Larsen, Renato Tapia, Miguel Rodriguez, and Jose Fontan, with the latter two also leaving on loan.

As Baeza looks ahead, his next move appears to be a return to Portugal, where he previously played on loan.

Baeza will be remembered for his dedication and perseverance during his tenure.

"Miguel always gave his best, and we are grateful for his efforts," a club spokesperson remarked, reflecting the sentiment of appreciation towards the departing player.
