Crystal Palace v Millwall: FA Cup predictions, tips and best bets as Eagles eye capital bragging rights

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner

We have an all-London FA Cup clash this Saturday as Premier League’s Crystal Palace and Championship’s Millwall battle it out for a spot in the quarter-final (Sat, 1215 GMT).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Crystal Palace aren’t going to win the Premier League. Neither will they be a serious contender in Europe. However, winning the FA Cup is absolutely within their reach.

The Eagles haven’t really won any serious silverware in their history. Yes, they have won the Championship play-offs a few years ago and picked up a smattering of regional titles in their early years.

Trouble is, the closest they have ever come to a major honour was back in 1990 and 2016 when they reached the FA Cup final.

This year, Oliver Glasner’s side have a serious chance at winning the competition. With Liverpool out of the picture and the ‘so called’ heavyweights in poor form, it’s all to play for as we head into the round-of-16.

Millwall, on the other hand, will be looking to quash Palace’s dreams. The Lions have only lost one of their last nine and are likely to give their London neighbours a run for their money.

Here, we take a closer look at Saturday’s encounter and pic out some of the best bets along the way.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Crystal Palace to win and BTTS – 3/1

Crystal Palace to win the first half – 4/5

Goals in both halves – 10/11

Under 11.5 corners – 1/2

Crystal Palace to win and BTTS

With seven wins form their previous nine games across all competitions, you can’t really go against Crystal Palace at this time.

Glasner’s men come into this game on the back of a dominant 4-1 victory over Aston Villa and an impressive 2-0 away win at Fulham.

While Millwall are also in strong recent form, the gulf in quality should give Palace the edge. Nevertheless, we’re still backing both to get on the scoresheet.

Crystal Palace to win the first half

The key to success for Palace in recent games has been to start on the front foot. The Eagles have won the first half in three of their last four games – this includes their FA Cup win over Doncaster in the previous round.

We’re backing that trend to continue as Palace prepare to host Championship opposition.

Goals in both halves

We know Crystal Palace like to start quick and we’ve already backed them to win the first half.

We also know that recent Millwall games tend to produce a high volume of goals after the interval. With that in mind, we’re putting our chips on goals in both halves.

Under 11.5 corners

While this is a fixture between two teams from different divisions, this still has the makings of a close encounter.

Palace could opt to rest one or two names. What’s more, Millwall will be looking to turn this into an attritional affair – something that rarely comes with a high number of corners.
