Man Utd's Casemiro 'asks to come off' with injury during Brazil game

After the 1-1 draw with Venezuela, Brazil head coach Fernando Diniz revealed that the Manchester United midfielder left the field in the 79th minute due to an ankle injury.

"As there was a stop (in play), I decided to make the three substitutions," Diniz told Globo Esporte. 

"We had a lot of control when they came on. Casemiro asked to come off due to a blow to his ankle."

Brazil's second World Cup qualifier, scheduled for Wednesday in Uruguay, brings an air of uncertainty surrounding Casemiro's fitness. 

It's anticipated that next week will bring more clarity on this matter. Diniz is expected to convene another press conference ahead of the game, during which he is likely to provide an update on his midfielder.

Erik ten Hag, on the other hand, faces an anxious wait concerning the condition of his midfielder, as he is already grappling with a mounting list of injuries. 

Among Manchester United players, Casemiro stands out as one of the few who has not missed a game due to injury, having started all 11 matches thus far.

In the immediate schedule, Manchester United are set to visit Sheffield United for a Premier League fixture on Saturday night, with a clash against Manchester City at Old Trafford slated for the following weekend.
