Luka Modric wants to retire at Real Madrid
Croatia captain Luka Modric is reportedly hoping to stay at Real Madrid beyond the 2022/23 La Liga season.
Modric been in great form at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, captaining Croatia to the semi-finals where they hope to overcome Argentina on Tuesday night to reach a second successive final.
After the World Cup, the 37-year-old Modric heads back to Real Madrid with six months remaining on his current contract.
The veteran midfielder is expected to negotiate another one-year extension, which he has done over the last few years at Los Blancos.
The club are keen to retain Modric, and he told Diario AS that he would love to end his playing days at Madrid.
"For now, I'm at the World Cup and very focused on Croatia", Modric told Diario AS.
"What happens next, let's see, there's enough time to talk about everything.
"Of course, I want to retire in Madrid, I've said that many times.
"You can't say anything for 100%, but that's my idea, and it's a dream for me," he added.
