Liverpool v Newcastle: Predictions, tips and free bet builder as Salah and Isak star in goalfest

Alexander Isak of Newcastle United celebrates

Liverpool and Newcastle have produced fireworks in recent meetings and given the Magpies' wild and whacky form, more goals may be on the way.

Liverpool defeated the current champions Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, putting them one step closer to claiming the Premier League crown. It was a ruthlessly efficient showing.

Newcastle, on the other hand, won 4-3 against Nottingham Forest a few hours earlier, but their defensive flaws were exposed after running away into a 4-1 first-half lead.

We’ve compiled a bet builder which is priced at 3/1 with Paddy Power at the time of publishing.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Liverpool v Newcastle betting preview

A thrilling 3-3 draw at St James’ Park earlier in the season saw this fixture produced six goals for the second consecutive meeting.

Newcastle’s 4-3 victory of two halves over Nottingham Forest may be the perfect warm-up for a fixture that has been packed full of drama and late goals in recent meetings at Anfield.

Liverpool were in full control as they beat Man City 2-0 at the Etihad, announcing their intention to steal their title like the big bully on the playground stealing the first-year student’s lunch money.

It makes sense to expect fewer fireworks than in recent meetings, but that wouldn’t be at all in keeping with Newcastle’s run of form.

At least one side scored three or more goals in 10 of Newcastle’s previous 13 Premier League matches.

Both sides found the net in seven of those contests, taking Newcastle’s both teams to score record to 15 occurrences in 26 league matches.

The Reds conceded in six of eight before beating City, sometimes twice, and have struggled to keep recent visitors to Anfield out.

Each of the last five visitors to Merseyside have found the net and if the Toon are to follow suit, surely Alexander Isak will be involved in their efforts.

He found the net in each of his previous trips there and will be keen to showcase his talents on the same pitch as Mo Salah, who is looking to score for a ninth consecutive match.

The clinical Swede has fired off 3.10 shots per 90 minutes this campaign, hitting the target 1.55 times on average.

On the other hand, Salah, arguably playing the best football of his career at age 32, takes 3.69 shots per contest and hits the target 1.96 times per game.
