Leeds United linked with audacious double swoop for Sammie Szmodics and Harrison Burrows
Leeds United have been linked with a move for Blackburn Rovers attacker Sammie Szmodics and Peterborough full-back Harrison Burrows.
Leeds United are in the market for several more high-profile signings this summer, with fresh reports linking them to Sammie Szmodics and Harrison Burrows.
The Blackburn Rovers forward scored 27 goals and bagged the Golden Boot last season, including the decisive goal at Elland Road as the Whites lost 1-0.
Rovers have publicly turned down a couple of bids from Premier League side Ipswich Town in recent days, with numerous Championship sides also interested in his services.
We reported on Leeds United’s interest in him last week but fresh reports state that Leeds have officially approached the Lancashire club to explore a deal.
Journalists close to the club were quick to rubbish the rumours, saying he’s not currently on Leeds’ radar.
However, they’ve been an unreliable source of information lately as the club attempts to conduct its business in private.
In other news, Darragh MacAnthony has sparked a theory that United are also chasing the signature of Harrison Burrows.
Burrows, Peterborough’s player of the season and a Sheffield United target is expected to complete a move to the Blades after they raised funds by selling Jayden Bogle.
But Peterborough United owner MacAnthony has revealed that the club have received several bids for the left-back, a couple of which have been accepted.
He then went on to reference Leeds in response to a question about Sheffield United conducting good business so far this summer, sparking rumours he was dropping a hint about the identity of another bidder.
Sources close to the club again moved quickly to dismiss the rumour, stating Leeds are not one of the clubs to have seen a bid accepted.
