Jurgen Klopp had no problem with Mohamed Salah's reaction to being substituted
Jurgen Klopp insists Mohamed Salah's frustration after being substituted against Chelsea was understandable.
Jurgen Klopp shrugged off the intense response shown by Mohamed Salah after being substituted during Liverpool's 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
In the match at Stamford Bridge, the Egyptian was taken off in the 77th minute and expressed his displeasure in a rather animated manner.
Salah forcefully removed tape from his hands, discarding it on the ground, and then slumped onto the bench in a display of frustration.
There has been subsequent speculation that Salah's irritation might have arisen from the substitution preventing him from securing the exclusive record for the most goals in Premier League opening weekends.
Currently, he shares this record with Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney, and Frank Lampard.
"I can understand because if Mo scored it would have been a new record for goals scored in the opening game but I didn't think about that," said Klopp.
"We needed stability and we needed fresh legs. It was super intense for everybody. That's all I can say about it, his reaction was absolutely okay.
"When I sub a player and he is jumping in to my arms at 1-1 and he is a striker who thinks he will score, I would be really surprised so that's absolutely fine."
