John Terry: Manchester United's Mason Mount has his reasons for leaving Chelsea

Mason Mount

Former Chelsea captain John Terry has leapt to the defence of Mason Mount, who has been criticised for his Manchester United transfer.

Mount is a product of the Chelsea youth academy and spent 18 years at the club before signing for the Red Devils in a controversial move this summer - reportedly worth £60million.

Some Chelsea fans have expressed their disappointment with Mount's decision to join a Premier League rival, but Terry has reminded them that there are always two sides to any story, and that Mount has his reasons.

"Mase is proper Chels through and through. There's always two sides to a story and I know the other side to it," said Terry, as quoted by Simon Phillips.

"I'm not going to air that tonight but there's another side to the story.

"Let's not be too harsh on Mason when he comes back [to Stamford Bridge with Man Utd]."

Mount will return to Stamford Bridge with Manchester United in April next year for a Premier League encounter.
