Chelsea boss Graham Potter hints World Cup hero Hakim Ziyech may have to wait for game time
Hakim Ziyech was a star performer for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup, though Chelsea boss Graham Potter hinted the player may have to be patient when it comes to Premier League game time.
The winger enjoyed a tremendous run in the tournament as the African side reached the semi-final before finishing fourth.
The 29-year-old was able to play a leading role despite having limited time with club side Chelsea.
Notwithstanding his impressive display in Qatar, Potter has hinted the player may have to be patient before getting a run of games in the Premier League.
Speaking in his press conference, Potter said: "He played against Man City, came on against Newcastle. Where he was at when we first came was a little bit away from the first XI.
"He's been involved in the games and came on in the first game as a sub. We know his qualities, we like him as a player, he plays between the lines with fantastic quality as we saw in the World Cup.
"At Chelsea there are always good players who aren't in the starting XI and have to be patient.
"I am delighted for him, we kept in touch with him over the World Cup. I am delighted for him that he got gametime, delighted for him that he helped his team, he's a good guy and he's got quality."
Chelsea return to competitive action on Tuesday, December 27 with a home clash against Bournemouth.
The Blues will then kick off the New Year with a trip to Nottingham Forest before back-to-back games against Manchester City in both the league and FA Cup.
