Celta Vigo striker Jorgen Strand Larsen joins Wolves on loan

Celta Vigo have allowed Norway striker Jorgen Strand Larsen to join English Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season-long loan.

The 24-year-old will spend the 2024-25 season at Wolves in a move which will become permanent should certain clauses be triggered.

Larsen arrived at RC Celta in September 2022 and has made 69 appearances for the LaLiga outfit, scoring 17 goals.

A statement on Celta's website read: "RC Celta and Wolverhampton Wanderers FC have signed striker Jorgen Strand Larsen on loan with an option to buy. The Norwegian will embark on a new sporting stage in England after two seasons in Vigo, where he has stood out for his commitment, exemplary behaviour and great performance.

"Larsen arrived at RC Celta on 1 September 2022 and, just two days later, he made his debut in LALIGA against Cádiz CF in Abanca Balaídos. From that moment on, the striker showed absolute commitment and great discipline, both on and off the pitch. With an exceptional commitment, not only to the club, but also to our roots and tradition, "Xurxo" has won the hearts of all the fans with his charisma and his effort to integrate into our culture.

"Proud and grateful for his sporting career at RC Celta, the club wishes him all the luck and the best of success in the new stage that he now undertakes."

Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs said: "Everyone knows that bringing in a number nine was really important to us this summer, and Jorgen was our number one target for the position, so we are really pleased to have signed him.

"He‘s a great guy, who‘s got a really good charisma and a great personality, and although he‘s still young, still learning and still developing, he‘s shown that he can score goals, and puts a lot of work and running in for the rest of the team.

"We talk a lot about humility at this football club, and he fits that perfectly.

"In Jorgen, we‘re getting a guy whose career is on the way up and we hope to keep helping him improve and develop so he can get to the levels we think he can reach."
