Arsenal linked with surprise move for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya
Arsenal are being tipped to make a late swoop for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya with the Bees having reportedly rejected a loan offer from Bayern Munich.
Arsenal have emerged as prime contenders for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya's signature, according to reports.
Raya has one year left on his contract and Brentford are keen to cash in on the 27-year-old now as opposed to risking losing him on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The Spanish shot-stopper has made clear his desire to leave the club and Brentford are willing to let him leave with a £40m price tag on his head.
"I think it's natural that he would like to leave if it's a good opportunity for him," the manager, Thomas Frank, said of Raya. "We all think it's a good idea at the right price."
The Bees have already made a plan to fill the void with the signing of highly-rated German gloveman Mark Flekken from Freiburg and are not keen on Raya joining Bayern on loan as they would rather sell him for a sizeable profit.
Arsenal's current number two Matt Turner is being linked with a move to Nottingham Forest in search of regular first-team football and Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly eager for Raya to contest for the number one jersey with Aaron Ramsdale.
