Scotland blow as Kieran Tierney is ruled out of Euro 2024
Kieran Tierney will miss the rest of Scotland's Euro 2024 campaign after picking up a hamstring injury.
Kieran Tierney is a professional Scottish football player who plays left-back for Arsenal, and is currently on loan at Real Sociedad. He also plays for his senior national side.
After coming through the ranks at Celtic, he won the Scottish Premiership four times, plus two Scottish Cups and two Scottish league Cups.
His performances earned himself a big move to the Premier League in August 2019, and he quickly became an important part of the Arsenal squad.
After spending 10 years in the Celtic youth development squad, Tierney made his competitive senior debut at the end of the 2014/15 season, aged only 17.
It was in the 2015/16 campaign where Tierney began to truly make a name for himself, though. The left-back made 33 appearances throughout the season, scoring one and assisting eight times.
In that season he aided Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title, as well as grabbing some personal awards, claiming PFA Scotland, SWFA, and Celtic's Young Player of the Year. He was also mentioned in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year.
Once again he was named PFA Scotland, SWFA, and Celtic Young Player of the Year, and he would achieve all the awards the following season as Celtic bettered their previous campaign by winning the treble.
In 2017/18, Tierney played both left-back and centre-back, even claiming the captain's armband at times in the season. The new-found leader also scored four times and provided 11 assists that term.
During his final season at Celtic, Tierney was missed for the majority of the 2018/19 campaign through hip and groin injuries. Despite that, he was a member of the back-to-back treble squad, as Celtic went on to win the SFA Cup, the League Cup, as well as the Scottish Premiership.
At Celtic he developed both his defending and attacking abilities, as well as leadership qualities, which led to a number of clubs to set their sights on the defender. Tierney would later make a £25million move to the red side of North London.
After joining the Gunners in August 2019, the Scotsman was sidelined having recently undergone a hernia operation.
Eventually, Tierney made his debut for the Gunners against Nottingham Forest in the EFL. Ever since, the defender has elevated a lacklustre Arsenal squad, adding a much-needed dose of character to Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta's Gunners.
He was later named Arsenal's Player of the Month for June as football returned following a three-month break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Tierney scored his first goal for Arsenal on the final day of the season, securing a 3-2 win against relegated Watford.

An assist from Tierney for Aubameyang's opener against Manchester City in the semi-finals aided Arsenal's return to Wembley, where the Scotsman would claim cup success as his side beat Chelsea 2-1 in the final.
The left-back would round off a difficult campaign with 25 appearances, and overcame his injury problems to finish with a goal and four assists.
Kieran Tierney has represented Scotland from the under-18s all the way to the senior squad. He had his first call up in 2016 where he made his debut against Denmark at Hampden Park.
Tierney was selected for Scotland's EURO 2020 squad, but his side faced an early exit from the competition - even if they did manage a 0-0 draw against bitter rivals England at Wembley.
A calf injury ruled him out from the tournament opener against the Czech Republic but was eligible to play against England and Croatia. A draw against the Three Lions and defeat to the Croatians sealed Scotland's fate.
Kieran Tierney's net worth is reported to be £17million.
He is reportedly on £110,000 per week at Arsenal, around £5.7m a year.
