Lando Norris pleased with how well he and Oscar Piastri get on

McLaren driver Lando Norris has revealed that he and teammate Oscar Piastri already have a relationship built on trust and respect.

Trust and respect are not words associated with Piastri much on the Formula 1 grid after the young Australian took advantage of contract loopholes to jump ship from Alpine Racing last season to join McLaren in controversial circumstances.
While it seems that there was nothing legally wrong with the move, it left a sour taste in many mouths of Formula 1 team bosses who saw how easy it was for a young driver to leave a team that had invested so much into their development.
However, Piastri appears to have settled in well at McLaren and Norris believes the developing relationship will be beneficial for both drivers.
"All of it is good, to be honest. He's a very normal guy. Down to earth. No ego. Just yeah, a normal guy. We get on really well. He's extremely good, competitive, good team-mate," Norris said according to Motorsport Week.
"I think we've already built up a good amount of respect and trust towards one another.
"We've both got the best interest at heart which is to help the team. When you get to racing for first and second in a race, that's when things I think change a huge amount.
"Now whether one of us finishes 15th or 16th, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter that much to me. Yeah. I feel like I'm just a good teammate.
"I prefer to get along with my team-mate than not. I always try to make it work in better ways."
After the opening eight rounds of the 2023 season, Norris and Piastri sit 11th and 14th respectively in the Drivers' Championship.
