Fernando Alonso anticipates an exciting Canadian Grand Prix and is 'prepared for anything’
Fernando Alonso admits that he is "prepared for anything" at the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix following a series of eventful races in the past.
Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso acknowledges he is "prepared for anything" at this weekend's Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix following some eventful races in the past.
The Spaniard has a plethora of memories racing at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve throughout his tenure in F1, and one recent standout moment occurred during the 2022 event when he secured a coveted front-row grid slot.
After Aston Martin faced challenges with pace during the previous Spanish Grand Prix, Alonso feels primed for action in Montreal.
"We had a hectic double header with Monaco and Spain and emerged with 32 points as a team," Alonso said in anticipation of the Canadian GP weekend.
"The atmosphere in Spain was phenomenal, but we encountered a challenging Saturday and lacked the speed on Sunday to deliver a spectacle for the fans."
"Next up is Montreal, a historic circuit in Formula 1, and I have cherished memories of racing here."
"Last year, for instance, I secured the second spot on the grid following a chaotic and rain-soaked qualifying session. Given the possibility of rain this weekend, we will be closely monitoring the radar."
Alonso asserts that he is ready for any circumstances that may arise during the eighth round of the 2023 calendar.
"The circuit is enjoyable, and while overtaking can be arduous, it can also yield surprising races. Hence, we will be prepared for any eventuality," added the two-time World Champion.
"We have introduced some upgrades this weekend, and our objective is to have a seamless performance and amass the maximum number of points."
