McLaren, the Formula 1 team, have made significant strides in their pursuit to reclaim the top spot, much to the satisfaction of Lando Norris, their talented driver.
McLaren, in their bid to reclaim their position at the forefront of Formula 1, have received a warm welcome from Lando Norris regarding their recent slew of technical appointments and team developments.
Over the past few weeks, the team has announced a series of changes, including the forthcoming arrival of Rob Marshall as Technical Director, Engineering & Design. Marshall, previously with Red Bull, is set to join McLaren in 2024. He will collaborate with Peter Prodromou and David Sanchez in the F1 Technical Executive team, following the departure of former technical director James Key in March.
Norris believes that the recruitment of such seasoned professionals in the sport signifies a positive stride for McLaren.
In an interview with the Sky Sports F1 podcast, Norris expressed his satisfaction, saying, "From the side of the team and the new people, I'm very happy." He further added, "There are some big names coming in which is always a great thing, a great addition. People who have been in the sport for many years and have played a crucial part in the success of other teams."
Recognizing the significance of expertise and personnel in Formula 1, Norris emphasized the importance of strengthening the team to compete against the likes of Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull. He stated, "Knowledge is one of the biggest things in Formula 1...so I think getting some big guys in...making the force bigger is what we needed."
While the ongoing 2023 F1 season has been a mixed bag for McLaren, Norris sees promising signs of progress, igniting his excitement for the future prospects of the Woking-based team.
"Already factually there's been some good improvements...so already good progress has been made," Norris revealed. He eagerly looks forward to the team's preparations for 2024 and beyond, as they anticipate the new wind tunnel, simulator, and additional personnel arriving in 2024 and beyond. "So a lot of exciting things," Norris shared.
Norris expressed his enthusiasm for McLaren's current endeavours and upcoming changes, stating, "I'm very excited for what McLaren are doing, what they've done, and the changes we've got ahead."
With the positive developments taking shape within the team, it seems McLaren is on track for a promising future in Formula 1.
As the F1 season progresses, the next stop is the Canadian Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, where McLaren fans eagerly anticipate the on-track action.
