CHARLIE MAGIC (4) showed good early speed last start on debut but felt the pinch late and finished fourth, beaten 1.75 lengths, over 5f at Dubbo. Has upside and can open his account. BEST DEFENCE (5) impressed last time out at the second run of the campaign and finished 2.5 lengths from the winner in second over 4½f at Coonabarabran after being prominent at the corner. Has the ability to take care of this field. ERION (9) turned in a fair effort at Gilgandra over 5f at his last run three-and-a-half months ago, finishing sixth and beaten 2.5 lengths. Makes plenty of appeal. PONTOON PRINCE (11) is a four-start maiden who resumed from a lay-off last start and was beaten 6 lengths when eighth over 5f at Dubbo. Definite top-three hope with plenty of improvement to come.
