SIR MAXIMUS (4) is going well with six minor placings from seven starts this prep. 1.4 lengths from the winner in third last time out over 1m at ewan. Stepping up a level this time but on his best form he is one of the key runners. VALENKI (6) drifted well back last start before winding up strongly to finish third, beaten 2.25 lengths, over 6f at Atherton. Expected to be doing best work at the finish. PRIVATE CHEETAH (5) finished seventh two runs back at Mackay then improved last time out to score by a nose after being prominent at the corner over 7¾f at Mackay. Going up a level this time but he can go back-to-back. THE SHERPA (9) ran below expectations last start, finishing fifth and beaten 3.5 lengths at Ewan over 1m. Should be thereabouts in this suitable race.
