CAN'T RECALL ONE (1) has been well held at his last couple, the latest in city grade when 14th in the G3 Grand Prix Stakes at Eagle Farm. Sure to appreciate the easier company and deserves another chance. SOBUTE (4) got off the mark over 6¾f at Ipswich last start, scoring by half a length. Capable of making it two on the trot. SMOKIN' DE QUO (6) finished second at Gold Coast two runs back but didn't measure up last time over 1m1 1/4f at Eagle Farm, finishing 5 lengths back in sixth after being in contention on the turn. Beautifully placed and is sure to take plenty of stopping. GUARDED OPTIMIST (2) is a four-year-old gelding who is having his first run for the Paul Shailer barn. Resumes after finishing ninth at Pakenham Synthetic at his last run five months ago. Ran fifth in a trial over 5f at Gold Coast and won on debut to launch last prep. Shapes as a top-three chance.
