HERMELINDA'S FANCY (3) ran below expectations last time at Pleasanton (Dirt), finishing sixth and beaten 13 lengths starting at 11/2. Finds a tougher race but a big run will not surprise. PRATCHETT (7) was prominent on straightening and stuck on well to finish second last start over 6½f at Del Mar (Dirt), beaten 1.5 lengths when resuming. This looks a sterner test than last time but on his best form he is right in contention. LAST CALL PAUL (6) is back at the races for the first time since October 20. Worth noting he filled a minor placing when returning from a lay-off last prep over 5f at Del Mar. Looks a strong top-three prospect. SEATTLE SURF (1) resumes.
