KING APOLLO (3) was out of the money two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 1m1/2f at Del Mar, beaten 4.5 lengths into eighth. Worth noting Umberto Rispoli goes aboard. This doesn't look as hard so he is one of the main contenders. BARELY FUNTIONAL (1) finished 1.75 lengths from the winner in fourth last start over 1m1/2f at Del Mar, an improvement on his seventh at Santa Anita the run before. Finds a suitable assignment and can take this out. JOINT VENTURE (4) did well to score at Santa Anita two runs ago. Not disgraced last time out when fourth over 1m at Del Mar, beaten 2.25 lengths after doing his best work late. Must raise the bar but another win is not out of the question. CLAMPETT (5) was prominent at the bend and finished second last start over 6½f at Santa Anita (Dirt), beaten 3.5 lengths. Should be cherry-ripe. Suitably placed so anticipating another big run.
