EMPIRE STATE (1) returned from a lay-off three weeks ago when he was beaten 2.5 lengths into sixth over 7f at this track. Fitter so anticipating a better run this time. SPIRIT'S UNITE (2) progressed nicely last start to finish a close second over 7f at Durbanville after missing the placings at the previous appearance. Steps up a level but he is good enough to figure in the finish. UNICORN ALERT (11) is usually thereabouts but finds it hard to win, with only one victory from 12 starts. Again tasted defeat last start when fifth over 7f at this track, beaten 1.75 lengths. Likely contender with strong prospects. MONT LOISIR (13) has switched yards since finishing eighth six-and-a-half weeks ago over 7f at Durbanville.
