DONWON (4) was below his best last time when sixth over 5f at Kembla Grange, beaten 4 lengths. Suitably placed so anticipating a big run this time. THE GREY (7) resumed from a lay-off last start with a sound second over 5½f at this track after being prominent at the corner. This doesn't look as hard so he is perfectly placed to break through. ESCALANTE (1) is returning from a lay-off of 11 months. Finished seventh at Beaumont (Newcastle) over 6f at the first run last prep. Now with a new trainer Nathan Doyle. Fitter for a minor placing in a recent Muswellbrook trial. One of the genuine hopes in the race. THE IRON STAR (8) produced a fair effort on debut last time out when 3.5 lengths from the winner in fifth at this track over 5½f. Looks well placed here and has to be respected.
