MARIOTA (3) launched his career with a win two runs ago. Not as effective last time out when sixth over 1m3/4f at Geelong, beaten 4.5 lengths. This looks a sterner test than last time but on his best form he is capable of a big performance. DAY IN HEAVEN (7) could only manage fourth two runs back then improved last start but found one better over 1m at Seymour, beaten only a nose after being prominent at the corner. Taking on a better line-up this time but she is up to the challenge. PREFER US (8) finished second last time over 7½f at Mornington when resuming from a lay-off, beaten 1.75 lengths. Meeting a tougher field but on her best form she is one of the chief contenders. COUNTESS JENNI (6) drifted well back last start then wound up strongly to finish sixth, beaten 5 lengths, over 1m2f at Ballarat. Can feature in the finish.
