RAMONES (1) started at 6/1 last time and ran below expectations, finishing fifth and beaten 1.3 lengths at Scone over 5½f after being in contention on the bend. Hard to beat in this suitable race. VAQUERO (16) has a moderate winning strike-rate but performed well last time at Orange, finishing fourth and only one length from the winner at the end of 1m after being prominent at the bend. Best figures measure up. Sure to run well. HIT THE RIM (2) finished second at Wagga two runs back but was less effective last time over 5¾f at Beaumont (Newcastle), finishing 4.5 lengths back in tenth. Yet to miss the placings in two starts over this course and distance. Nicely placed to bounce back. BORROWED LUCK (8) returned from a lay-off two weeks ago when she was beaten 3 lengths into seventh over 5¾f at Beaumont (Newcastle). Fitter so a likely improver.
