CO CO VAN WINKLE (1) wound up strongly only to just miss as favourite last start over 7½f at Mornington. Must raise the bar but this looks well within her grasp. PARIAH PEARL (6) turned in a nice effort to score two runs ago at Echuca. Less impressive last time out when ninth over 1m1/2f at Sale, beaten 9 lengths after being in the firing line on the bend. Finds a tougher race but a big run is on the cards. MYSTIC HIGH (8) didn't make an impact at her last run before going for a lay-off on December 21 finishing seventh and beaten 5.5 lengths over 1m at Seymour. Worth plenty of thought. MADENYO (3) returned from a lay-off two weeks ago when she was beaten 5 lengths into eighth over 7f at this track. Fitter this time will prove harder to beat.
