MADAM INSTRIFE (7) showed good early speed then led into the straight when fresh from a lay-off last start before fighting on to finish second, beaten a long neck, over 6¼f at Newcastle. Will go forward again and looks tough to beat. EVERYBODY RISE (3) returns from a layoff of four-and-a-half months. Worth noting he filled a minor placing when returning from a lay-off last time in work over 5¾f at Randwick Kensington. Has ability and should be right in the finish. VIACONI (1) resumes from a lay-off of four months. Looked close to a win before that break, finishing off with a minor placing over 5f at Muswellbrook. Good effort to open last prep when in the money at Scone over 5f. Ran sixth in a recent trial at Newcastle. Has ability and is a leading player. HUKA FALLS (4) finished third at Goulburn two runs back but was less effective last time over 5f at Hawkesbury, finishing 2.5 lengths back in tenth. Has his share of talent and can do a lot better.
