READ (11) settled well back then picked up fairly well in the straight and finished 4 lengths away in fifth last time out over 5½f at this track eight days ago as 11/4 favourite. Tackles a longer journey this time. Commendable record at this trip with a win and two minor placings and is expected to feature. UNQUESTIONABLY (3) has been out of the placings in two runs since a break, the latest when eighth, beaten 4 lengths, over 1m at Terang after he settled well back. Should be peaking now and is capable of sharp improvement. TAIPAN TOMMY (10) didn't make an impact at his last run before going for a lay-off on 24/11/2024, finishing 11th and beaten 4.5 lengths over 7¾f at Strathalbyn. Looks a strong top-three prospect. DR VENKMAN (5) recorded a strong on-speed win last time by half a length over this journey at this track. Raymond Vigar who has two wins when partnering stays on. Don't underestimate.
