Premier League Darts: Gerwyn Price sees off Chris Dobey to claim second season victory

Gerwyn Price wins in the second round of the Darts World Championship

Gerwyn Price secured his second victory in the Cazoo Premier League, seeing off Chris Dobey in the final at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena.

Dobey was on a high after routing table-topper Michael van Gerwen 6-0 in the semi-finals, an outstanding display that ended the Dutchman's 10-match winning streak after three consecutive triumphs in Liverpool, Exeter and Dublin.

But he came crashing back to earth as Price negotiated his way to a 6-4 scoreline, his third identical result of the evening after seeing off Dimitri van Bergh and Johnny Clayton by the same margin.
That gave the Welshman five points and carried him into second place behind Van Gerwen.
"I thought I played pretty well tonight, I just missed a few doubles which let people in games," Price said.
"I've been playing well for the last couple of weeks, but players just keep pipping me in games.
"I was really edgy against Jonny, I very rarely feel as nervous as I did in that game; I knew I could slip down the table if I lost so I needed that win and then I found my feet in the last two matches."
