Players Championship 18 heads to Milton Keynes as 128 PDC stars battle for the £15,000 prize.

Luke Humphries powered to victory at the recent New Zealand Masters as he thrashed Damon Heta 8-2 in the final.

The world champion is yet to win a Players Championship event this year and has only reached one final back in April.

However, with the Englishman looking strong over in New Zealand, he is undoubtedly one of the top contenders for Wednesday’s prize.

Gerwyn Price, who won the Australian Masters at the start of August, cannot be underestimated either.

The Welshman thrashed Luke Littler 8-1 Down Under and will be looking to cause more damage over in Milton Keynes.

 

Players Championship 18 format

The tournament will take place over a day at Milton Keynes' Marshall Arena and 128 players will compete.

It is a knockout format, with all games a race to six legs, bar the semi-final and the final, which are a race to seven and eight respectively.

What is the Players Championship?

The Players Championship is a series of 30 tournaments on the PDC Pro Tour.

All tournaments take place over a single day, with money earned by the players going towards the Players Championship Order of Merit.

The top 64 in the Order of Merit will compete in the Players Championship finals, which takes place at Butlin's Minehead on November 24-26.
