Baltic Sea Darts Open: Rob Cross turns up the voltage to deny nine-dart hero Luke Humphries in final
Rob Cross picked up his first PDC ranking title in 50 weeks after beating Luke Humphries to claim the Baltic Sea Darts Open.
Cross completed an impressive comeback in the final by taking five of the last six legs to earn an 8-6 victory.
Voltage rallied from 5-3 down against world champion Humphries who earlier bagged a nine-dart finish.
Both players threw five 180’s each and averaged over 104 in a high-quality contest, though it was Cross who ultimately took home the £30,000 prize in Kiel, Germany.
Humphries looked like he was going to go on and claim a seventh European Tour title when he moved 5-3 ahead with an sensational nine-darter.
That was not enough to deny Cross, though, as he broke back in the very next leg and dropped just one more leg in the match to ensure victory at the Wunderino Arena.
The PDC European Tour returns from May 24-26 with the Elten Safety Shoes Dutch Darts Championship at Autotron Rosmalen.
